Why an observational study on TTTS
Some patients may not want to participate in a randomized trial, or some centers may not have available all therapeutical options.
For these or other reasons, some patients can not participate in the randomized trial. Professionals and patients are then encouraged to participate in the Observational Study on TTTS. This is a prospective study recording information not only on the pregnancy outcome but also on the neonatal follow-up of the infants, which will provide also most valuable information for our knowledge of the syndrome. Why?
- because the information will be recorded in structured questionnaires, and this will allow for a comparison of cases of similar severity
- the analysis of data will be centralized and anonymous which will ensure the inclusion of all cases and objective interpretation of data
- these data can then be used for supporting the main conclusions obtained in the randomized trial
- in any case, they will provide valuable information for our knowledge on the prognosis and natural history of this disease.
